A transplanted Texan, Amy has called Iowa home for the past 17 years. Her degree in Medical Biology has proven quite useful both in the laboratory and on the jousting field. Not only is she able to tell jousters the name of the body part which is currently in pain, she can also tell them why: “Because the other guy just hit you there!”
Amy has been able to combine her love of everything equine and her devotion to children with some very unique and fulfilling venues. She has worn many hats serving as a therapeutic riding instructor, program director and executive director for riding programs and camps that enrich the lives of children and adults with physical and/or mental disabilities. Through these riding programs, she has also had the privilege of working with children who are in at-risk situations.
On the show scene, Amy has been a member of executive committees for the Iowa Equestrian Special Olympics and the Harvest Moon Carriage Classic. Not one to miss out on all the fun, Amy has also shown in carriage driving as well as under saddle. Perhaps carriage jousting is on the horizon…
